Although we may not be at the winter solstice yet, the weather outside is starting to look frightful. And playing havoc with our skin.
I have written before that as the seasons change, so should our skincare. Hopefully, you’ve already taken notice of this and have upped your skin hydration game as needed. What can get missed in this seasonal exchange is body care, which I wanted to make note of today.
How many masks can I do?
While working my way through autumn adieu, I tackled my bathroom cupboards as well as my closet. And because I never met a sample I didn’t like, I found a healthy stash of stuff on the shelves.
I keep my sample and travel sizes organised into broad categories like skincare, haircare and make-up. However, it became apparent that putting everything skincare into one shoebox (ok, maybe there was more than one) made it difficult to peruse and use my options.
Clearing up the clutter
Looking for something new to try?
When I see clients for facials, we always discuss skincare routines as I want to be sure they maximise their homecare programme. Between these conversations and Wellness Words, I find myself consistently referring to products I know will make a difference. So I thought it would be helpful to create a reference section on my website.
Supercharge your skin
We all know about the importance of sleep to allow our bodies to rest and our minds to reset. And I hope you have an evening skincare routine before you head off to dreamland. But have you wondered why certain products are specified for PM usage?
Is this the holy grail of SPF?
Summer’s here and that means it's the easy season to apply sunscreen every day. With longer daylight hours and more time spent outside, most of us are quick to include it as part of our morning routine.
However, this often feels like a chore thanks to product formulation. When I’m sitting on the beach, a hat can hide the white glow left by physical sunscreens. And the sticky feeling on my limbs after application is just about bearable, but I'm sure it causes more sand to stick to me.
Rise and shine
I love mornings. And yes, I realise that some of you may not understand this statement at all. I love the feeling of waking up early with a new day ahead, full of promise. Mornings are when I feel most productive. But even I can find it challenging sometimes to leave my comfy bed, which is why I love my morning ritual to help ease me into the day.
Spring skincare
After our recent stretch of sun, it does seem like spring has really arrived in London. Let's hope it's the warm-up for a great summer!
Spring is the perfect time for a review of our skincare routine to ensure it is fit for the new season. Winter months require more hydration and care to keep skin from drying out, while sunshine and warmer temps let you dial this back.
Paying attention to the planets
Invest in your skin today
If you look almost anywhere these days, you’ll find ways to “solve” many skincare issues. Whether you want to lighten pigmentation thanks to too much sun, remove the “11s” between your brows that make you look permanently angry or lift what is falling, there seems to be a product or treatment that can “reverse” the ageing process and / or undo damage you may have inflicted on your skin during the folly of youth.
