Wellness

What will you ask of yourself?

As September begins, I find myself looking back over the past six months and thinking, what have I done? Or not done?

Honestly, on some level, it seems nothing less than a miracle that any of us are getting up each morning to face a new day. But maybe you’ve shared some of my COVID attitude of “well, I might as well enjoy x today (ice cream, binge-watching, internet surfing, etc) because who knows what will happen tomorrow”. If this sounds like what you’ve been experiencing, and you're ready for a bit more, perhaps you'll join me in asking more of yourself as autumn begins.

Skincare while masking

As we all continue to adjust to life in its newest form, one question that clients have been asking recently is skincare while masking. By this, I mean how to keep your skin happy while wearing a face covering to protect others when you can’t socially distance. Here are my top suggestions.

What’s on your summer schedule?

How are you doing? How’s it been going? What have you been doing to stay sane lately?

As we look forward to the bank holiday weekend, now would normally be the time that I start to think about summer. Then I remember how different it will be this year when compared to those we have had before. So while we might not be able to take the holiday we had planned, we can develop a list of summer fun to look forward to.

Summer preparation

Hi. How are you? How are you doing? How are you feeling?

I’ve been finding I have times of productivity and then times of inactivity. I am never sure how long the burst of energy will last, so I do try to make the most of it when it hits me. Because I still find there are times when reading a light fiction book is challenging. Do you ever feel the same way?

This week, though, I’ve had a couple days of high energy and motivation, so I’m really trying to take advantage of it with some spring cleaning, a grill detox and getting the clothesline ready for summer. I have no idea what the next season will be like, but I have a feeling I’ll still be in the US, so I’m trying to get ready for it.

Part of my summer prep involves sunscreen, of course, particularly as I contemplate the potential of a summer full of sun instead of whatever it is we get in Britain.

Staying sane

Hi there. How are you? How are you feeling? What’s on your mind?

I’ve been thinking about you. And I’ve been thinking about what to write in Wellness Words. I like my emails to be informative and something to look forward to, but writing about skincare at this moment, seems, well, a little frivolous. Not that I’m not taking care of my skin mind you. And I have been sharing some skincare stuff over on IG and FB.

So let’s consider our wellness today. What are you doing to stay sane?

Cleansing is key

Cleansing is one of the most basic and yet important steps in any skincare routine. It removes make-up, pollution, sunscreen and surface dirt that can cause your skin to look less than its best. Breakouts, dullness and skin misbehaviour may be the result of insufficient cleansing.

Don't be so sensitive

Skincare at its core is designed to improve and protect our skin and a bespoke routine can achieve this with a variety of products.  We all want skincare that can soothe and enhance our skin without irritation. However, there may be times when products have a less than desired effect and specialty items are needed to calm an adverse reaction.  Here are the ones I use to restore my skin to its regular behaviour.
