Summer preparation

Hi.  How are you?  How are you doing?  How are you feeling?

I’ve been finding I have times of productivity and then times of inactivity.  I am never sure how long the burst of energy will last, so I do try to make the most of it when it hits me.  Because I still find there are times when reading a light fiction book is challenging.  Do you ever feel the same way?

This week, though, I’ve had a couple days of high energy and motivation, so I’m really trying to take advantage of it with some spring cleaning, a grill detox and getting the clothesline ready for summer.  I have no idea what the next season will be like, but I have a feeling I’ll still be in the US, so I’m trying to get ready for it.

Part of my summer prep involves sunscreen, of course, particularly as I contemplate the potential of a summer full of sun instead of whatever it is we get in Britain.

Let’s start with my easiest bit of advice: you need to wear sunscreen every day.  But you know this already, right?  And I hope you’re doing it, even if you’ve spent more time inside than usual.

Daily sunscreen application is particularly important this year because of our extra indoor time.  As we try to take advantage of the sunshine in short spurts, we may have a tendency to overdo it.  And that’s so unfair to your skin and all the effort you have put into it.  So please, please keep up with the daily sunscreen.  And when you get your limbs out of hiding, be sure to protect them as well.

You probably know that I believe sunscreen is one of the most important skincare products you can use.  And I’ve written about it a few times before.  So rather than reinvent the wheel, I’m going to give you some links to remind you just how critical this step is in your daily routine.

SPF Q&A

Here comes the sun

Does the end of summer mean you can ditch your sunscreen?

So there you are.  A bit of a refresher on why SPF is so necessary.  I’m sure you didn’t need the reminder at all, but I feel like it’s my professional duty to write about it at least once a year!

I hope you are safe and healthy and staying sane.
