Winter skin saviours

Although we may not be at the winter solstice yet, the weather outside is starting to look frightful.  And playing havoc with our skin.

I have written before that as the seasons change, so should our skincare.  Hopefully, you’ve already taken notice of this and have upped your skin hydration game as needed.  What can get missed in this seasonal exchange is body care, which I wanted to make note of today.

A few of my favourite things

It’s the time of year where lists recapping the best of the past 12 months are everywhere.  And because I love a list, I’ve used this concept to inspire skincare items that I can’t be without.  Well, let’s be generous and call them skincare-related, remembering that I believe good skincare is the foundation on which everything else is built.

Lip service

While I’ve got my face hydration programme down pat, with season and travel modifications, I have routinely been plagued by dry lips, particularly in autumn and winter.  In the spring and summer, they stay fairly well hydrated, but with the slightest dip in temperature, they seem to lose all moisture retention properties.

Wearing more layers? It's time to change your skincare

For most of us, our daily skincare regime is as routine as brushing our teeth.  And while well-established habits make it easy for us to accomplish a task, as the weather changes, it’s important to re-examine what you’re using on your skin to be sure it’s right for what you need at the moment.
