Nothing feels as good as gold

Preparing for a big day or special evening out and feeling like your face could use a bit of a refresh, but don’t have time for a facial?  Consider using a vibrating gold bar at home to help you get ready.

Created in Japan, this tool simulates massage thanks to the vibration helping to reduce tension, while defining the face.  Sure, the results won’t last more than a day, but this tool is so pleasantly easy to use, you may find yourself reaching for it more often than big moments only.

The bar is used on clean skin that has been treated with serum and moisturiser, but not SPF or make-up as we don’t want to push ingredients from these products into the skin, nor do we want them to react with the tool.

When I first got mine, I used it on just one side of my face to see if it really worked and the answer is an enthusiastic yes!  I use it to lift my cheeks and jawline, smooth lines between my brows, on my forehead and neck.  I've recreated my half-face trial in a photo I've posted on Instagram.

Because of the small size of the bar, I find it can lift the skin in more concentrated movements than my beloved NuFace, which still features regularly in my routine.

While I can notice a difference after just a few passes of the tool, it’s recommended to use it for about 10 minutes.  A slightly slippery surface to lift and smooth the skin is what’s required, which is you should apply all your skincare before turning on the bar.  We never want the tool to drag and pull the skin.

And although I mainly use the tool in the morning to prepare my face for the day ahead, if I feel tension in my jaw, I will use it in the evening during my routine to release the muscles.  It’s brilliant for this.

It’s worth noting that the Japanese bar is plated with 24-carat gold, which is a bonus for skin health thanks to its anti-microbial properties and obviously a big component of the cost.  I found a dupe on Amazon for a fraction of the price and decided to give it a try.  Clearly its gold is in colour alone so I’m careful to clean it after each use.  And I’m really happy with the results!

Would you try the gold bar on your face?
