Transitioning to a new season

Have you awakened this morning with the same feeling I had?  How can it be September 1st?  Didn't summer just begin last week?  How did we get here so quickly?  Autumn is around the corner, whether we’re ready for it or not.  (Full disclosure: I am currently maximising my summer.  As you read this, I am finishing up my beach holiday, taking in as much Vitamin D as I can – with proper sun protection, obviously!)

With longer days and warmer temperatures, summer is the season when we generally feel most radiant and alive, however the end of it can bring a sense of unease.  Did I do all I wanted to this summer?  Did I overindulge on my holiday?  Am I ready to endure the upcoming shorter days and colder temps?

A change of seasons is a perfect time to consider a reflexology session to help you reset and prepare for what lies ahead.  When reflex points on your feet are stimulated, your body reacts by bringing the balance it requires.  So whether you need a bit of detoxing after an indulgent holiday or a calm mindset as you embark on a big end of year work project, reflexology can help.

September also brings us a chance to reflect on the past season.  At the end of spring, I heard a recommendation to create a plan for a summer of special activities.  Somehow, I decided it was meant for those with children to help everyone enjoy the upcoming school break.  With my holiday planned for the end of August, I didn't think I needed special summer distraction and entertaining.

At the start of August, however, I found myself wishing I had planned summer-only activities and set about to make some changes.  My pre-assembled holiday reading list became a summer reading list as I indulged in some easy reading.  I also became more thoughtful about taking advantage of outdoor activities as often as the weather allowed.  Finally, I tried to ensure I watched the sun set each day.  These have all boosted my enjoyment and appreciation of summer, making it feel a bit special.  And I'm already looking forward to creating a more robust summer plan for next year.

You may recall my recommendation in spring to take time to review your goals set at the start of the year.  The beginning of Autumn is another perfect time to do this as there are still 4 months before the new year is upon us.  Plenty of time to accomplish what you planned for 2016.

In the meantime, enjoy the summer sunshine, while it's with us.  As I enjoy one last weekend away, I’ll be savouring a margarita on the beach at sunset today!
