For your eyes only

Have you ever contemplated the worst-case scenario of what you would choose if you were limited to just one make-up item for the rest of your life?  As a pale skin, fair-haired gal, my choice would definitely be mascara. Without it, my blonde lashes are basically invisible and my eyes just kind of fade away.

But there are times when mascara is impractical or unnecessary to apply (think early mornings or gym sessions) so when I discovered lash tinting, it was a revelation to me.  In just 20 minutes, my eyes become noticeable following the application of dye that lasts for 3 to 4 weeks.  Lash tinting is just the thing for summer holidays when you don’t want to run the risk of mascara sliding onto your face.

To further boost my lashes, I have long loved my eyelash curler.  In just a few seconds, it brings my lashes to attention and makes my eyes look more open.  However, I’m all for saving steps on busy mornings so when I heard there’s a semi-permanent solution for this, I had to give it a try.  A lash lift lasts up to 6 weeks and offers the same effect as an eyelash curler, leaving your lashes pointing up toward your eyebrows rather than out from your lids.

While tinting and lifting have definitely enhanced my lashes, they still don’t rival the extra long lashes of my youngest nephew.  Does he even know to appreciate them, I wonder?  When a lash serum was recommended to me, I was sceptical of this home treatment at first, but became a convert when I noticed my lashes were in fact growing after using it for about a month.  XXtralash is my current serum of choice and I have it available in the treatment room, if you are interested.  It really is magical stuff!

Because framing the eye brings more attention to the area, I remain devoted to eye cream, applying it both morning and evening.  This peptide-rich gel is the one I use.  I love how light it is and that it absorbs so quickly.  If you’re not already using eye cream, I highly recommend you start now.

And yes, I do apply mascara to my tinted, lifted, serumed lashes for extra effect.  I’m a big fan of Volume Million Lashes from L’Oreal and Chanel’s Le Volume.

What’s the one make-up item you can’t live without?
